Zebra Blockout Fabric Roller Blinds
Blockout approximately 90% to 95% of sun light
Thicker fabric, and not see through when fully closed, even at night time. A little silhouette can happen if the fabric is light coloured, white especially. Zebra Blinds is the practical alternative to traditional window blinds, roller blinds, roman blinds, venetian blinds and curtains. Enjoy the sun and your privacy with this window treatment.
Blockout or blackout? Here they mean the same thing
In New Zealand people search for both blockout blinds and blackout blinds, and usually mean the same product. Ours are blockout roller blinds in a zebra style, which means two layers of alternating solid and sheer bands. Line the solid bands up and the room goes dark. Offset them and you get filtered daylight without anyone seeing in.
One honest note. A zebra blind is not a theatre blackout. If you need a room pitch dark at midday, for shift work or a baby who naps, you will still get a thin line of light around the edges, as you would with any roller blind. An outside mount with generous overlap gets you closest.
Where blockout works best
- Bedrooms that face the morning sun
- West facing living rooms that overheat through the afternoon
- Media rooms and home offices where screen glare is the real problem
- Ground floor rooms facing the street or a neighbour's window
If you would rather keep the view and simply soften the light, look at our semi blockout range instead.
Made to measure, fitted in about 10 minutes
Every blind is cut to the measurements you give us, so there is no trimming on site and nothing to send back to a workshop. Most customers fit them with a drill and a spirit level in around ten minutes per window.
Measuring is the part worth slowing down for, because a made to measure blind cannot be re-cut. Read how to measure zebra blinds before you order, and send your measurements through if you want a second pair of eyes on them.
Colours and fabric
Our blockout range runs from white and light grey through to charcoal. Colour on a screen is never quite colour in your own lounge, so order the fabric catalogue and hold the samples against your wall before you decide.
We deliver anywhere in New Zealand and across to Australia. Still weighing blinds against curtains? We wrote an honest comparison, including the cases where curtains are the better buy.
